Mike Tyson showed little to no interest in watching Jake Paul spar
Mike Tyson is not only one of the greatest Heavyweights in history, he is also a boxing savant. If you get a chance to watch one of his boxing history conversation, you’ll see he is one of the most passionate people in the sport. Tyson knows about obscure fighters from decades prior to him because he learned from his very first coach. Cus D’Amato. That man saved Mike Tyson from leading a life of crime that would probably make him end up in prison or worse.
So, when Tyson looks at someone fight, gauging his reaction means everything because you know if that person is good or not. Jake Paul has been in the boxing game for just a few years and people are already calling for him to take on professonal boxers. He’s done very well ever since he fought his second bout on that same evening Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr.
Since then, Paul has already fought five times with four KOs and one win by split decision. However, he still hasn’t fought a proper striker. The two fighters who are combat sports professionals were Ben Askren andTyron Woodley, both of which he knocked out. Now that he is set to face Anderson Silva in October, Jake Paul is getting ready to finally face a complicated opponent who has already dabled in boxing a little bit.
Silva has even fought professional boxers and won without breaking a sweat. Paul knows this perfectly and he’s been getting ready in many famous gyms across the country. Mike Tyson happened to be in one of those gyms earlier this week and what happened is definitely wirth telling.
According to FightHype, it all happened at the famous Wild Card gym in Los Angeles, a joint that is run by coach Freddie Roach. He spoke about the event as Mike Tyson was visiting the famous gym to get a tour, remember he is a boxing connoiseur. This is what Roach said: “Tyson looked at him and left,” said Roach.
He added: “He saw 30 seconds of him sparring and said, ‘Freddie, can we go down and see the pictures?’. He knows that’s where the good pictures are. He wasn’t as interested as I was. The kid’s OK, a club fighter… I don’t know him personally and I’ve never really met him. He was in my gym and wondered if they could use the ring and I said go ahead.”
