The American tennis star, Serena Williams, has inspired a lot of women with on-court and off-court motivation. The 23-time Grand Slam champion is a legend herself, but it’s astonishing to know who she believes as her icon in the game.
The tennis star has faced her own ups and downs to be number one in the sports. However, it has been years, but tennis fans are still not clear about who is the one tennis giant that Serena Williams admires more than Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert.
Serena Williams answers the most curious question of all time
Almost five years back, Serena appeared on a vogue show and answered some candid questions about herself. The former world number one talked about a lot of things while answering 73 questions asked by Vogue, however, one question got stuck.
And the answer to the question is a discloser to the burning debate happening among tennis fans. When asked, “Who is your tennis icon?” She answered promptly that it is none other than “Monica Seles”.
The Williams sisters watched the former tennis legend when they started playing tennis. But it somehow felt strange to the tennis fans when compared to other tennis giants who have achieved more than the 48-year-old tennis star. Further, she also talked about how her best doubles partner is her elder sister, Venus, and that she is just great to play with.
The 41-year-old evolved from the sport last month after playing her last tournament at the US Open in the hope of winning his 24th Grand Slam title. But called it off with having 23 Grand Slam titles in her name. She has also reached the number one women’s ranking in the sport and is working endlessly to inspire the younger generation to come in.
She played her last doubles along with her best partner, her elder sister. However, they lost in the first round. But made their tennis fans happy as they were able to see the legendary athletes play together for the last time. And on the other hand, William alone lost her run in the third round itself and said a warm thank you to the sport.
But tennis fans have their hopes up as the former world number one has hinted that she might make a Tom Brady-style comeback.
