Serena Williams is one of the most important tennis players along with Venus. When it comes to playing, the two sisters go a long way. The elder, Venus Williams, won seven Grand Slam singles titles, while Serena Williams, born a year later, won 23. Parents, Richard Williams and Oracene Price, provided early guidance to the Williams sisters.
When it comes to tennis, the two sisters go all out. There is no better partner, stronger and more skilled, than the twins. Once the best women’s tennis players, have never let history stand in the way of prosperity. By the guidance of their father and mother, they etched their names in golden letters in history.
Oracene Price is recognized by fans as the exemplary mother and proud coach of Venus and Serena Williams. While working as a nurse, Oracene married Richard Williams, which led to the birth of the dynamic sisters. Venus and Serena got trained by their mother during their initial days of training.
During the initial days of their exemplary career, Serena wasn’t welcomed by the fans. The fans had never experienced an African-American player win so diligently. The mother called out the crowds for their rude behaviour. She was quoted as,” They wanted a blonde and a ponytail.”
Price further added,” she was reared without prejudice by parents who had moved from the Mississippi Delta to work in the Midwest. But the experiences of her life had taught her to be wary.
Like all mothers, Oracene Price just wanted her children to succeed. When Serena Williams was brutally treated by the French crowd in the 2003 semifinal, the proud mother quoted, ‘They didn’t want to see another Williams in the finals.”
Price has been fortunate to have not one but two daughters who have dominated the tennis world for the past 23 years.
”You have to be 100 times better, just to get inside the door,” she further added while inspiring women of further generations.
With nothing to back down from and seeing her second lead crumble, Williams battled back and forth in the tiebreak to survive the match. But the camera was on Price, with her eyes closed.
It was the last moment Price had to devote to her daughter’s game after announcing after the tournament that she would be evolving away’ from tennis.
