Garcia recently revealed that he would like to fight Davis having just knocked Javier Fortuna down three times during a sixth-round stoppage victory.

Davis’ team had reportedly already been in touch about a fight between the two boxers.

As of yet, no date has been announced nor is there any evidence of progress in negotiations, but Garcia’s old teammate and mentor, Canelo, has weighed in on how he thinks the fight would play out should it ever come to fruition.

“It’s a good fight for boxing,” the super-middleweight champion said.

“I think Tank has got more experience. That’s what I think, but in boxing you never know.”

Many are not sure how much to believe what Canelo says given he and Garcia have a known feud.

It all began after Garcia knocked out Luke Campbell in 2021 and then decided to take a break from the sport due to suffering with mental health issues.

This prompted Canelo to criticise Garcia for a lack of discipline and the young lightweight fighter hit back by predicting that Gennady Golovkin would beat the Mexican in their upcoming trilogy bout.

Canelo was not pleased with these comments and he expressed his displeasure on the DAZN Boxing Show, saying: “He’s just mad for something – he’s no longer in the team. He’s always going to be versus us no matter what.

“But he’s a little kid. He needs to learn a lot of things.

“My advice for him is to do your job, focus on your career, win a world championship first, then talk about other people.
