Esteemed trainer Robert Garcia is backing namesake Ryan to get the better of Gervonta Davis, if the pair do indeed face off this spring.

Garcia, who trained Anthony Joshua for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk last August, believes “King Ry’s” speed and power will simply prove too much for Davis, and referenced the shots the Baltimore puncher took during a fight against Hector Luis Garcia last month.

Speaking to 210BoxingTv, Garcia said: “Hector landed some punches on Tank but I don’t think he has the power. I think Ryan has the f—— power. I think if Ryan lands, he will hurt Tank.”

“I pick Garcia. He’s too fast and too strong.”

Despite numerous assurances the fight is on, there is yet to be an official announcement for Davis vs Garcia, and there are growing concerns amongst fans that the contest could be in doubt.

Reports emerged this week that an ongoing dispute between broadcasters Showtime and DAZN has caused negotiations to stall.

The two companies are said to be in disagreement regarding which network will host a potential rematch in the second half of the year.

A one way rematch clause is said to be included in the contract should Garcia defeat Davis, however the same luxury has not been afforded the other way around.

The fight is considered one of the biggest to be made in the sport, given the huge followings possessed by the two young stars.
