WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was in Saudi Arabia supporting his brother Tommy in his grudge fight with Jake Paul, and had backed the rising star to win on an £100,000 bet
Tyson Fury lost his £100,000 bet after his brother Tommy beat Jake Paul but failed to stop his bitter rival.
Fury’s brother Tommy finally stepped in the ring with his long-term rival in a grudge match two years in the making. Stakes had been raised higher and higher during the build-up to the fight with Tommy facing the threat from Fury of being left in the Middle East if he lost.
Then prior to the bout, the WBC champion revealed he had bet £100,000 on his sibling stopping Paul inside the distance. There was significant pressure on the shoulders of Fury who was looking to pick up a win over his bitter rival and prove his worth as a contender to become world champion.
Tyson had already shaken on a bet with Paul when the pair were set to meet last August but Fury was forced to withdraw after being banned from travelling to the US. The initial value of the wager had been placed by the pair at $1million, but it expired after the fight collapsed.
Having an undefeated record of his own, Fury had confidently predicted that his brother would have his hand raised prior to the fight and pointed out his hard work in training. “Tommy knocks out 90 per cent of people that he spars with or drops them at least, so he’s a very hard puncher and Jake Paul will find that out tomorrow,” Tyson told iFL TV.

“I’ve got 100 racks on it for an inside the distance stoppage, so if he loses, then I’ll lose 100 bags as well. I’ve got him at 3-1. I know Tommy is going to knock him out. What is a little bit stupid is I see all these experts and professional boxers picking Jake Paul over Tommy. I’m like, ‘What the hell are these guys watching?’.
“Because Tommy will absolutely deck him. I think Tommy can get him out of there whenever really. It’ll definitely be inside the distance and it won’t be a points job for sure. Tommy wins by knockout. I can smell the fear and he [Jake] is rattling. He is rattling like a little b**** and he is going to get knocked out.”
