Abdullah Mason moved to 12-0 (10 KOs) with an eye-catching knockout on Thursday night in Las Vegas.

The 19-year-old American lightweight prospect made the next step up in his career on the undercard of Teofimo Lopez’s world title defence against Jamaine Ortiz.

And it did not take long for him to make an impression.

Benjamin Gurment was selected as the man given the unlucky task of being Mason’s opponent.

The 31-year-old was also unbeaten at 8-0-3 heading into the bout.

However, it did not take long for him to suffer his first defeat.

Mason punished Gurment early on, pummelling him with ruthless body shots.

Then, the teenager ended the fight in an instant.

With one single lightning-fast left hand, the southpaw knocked his opponent down and out.

Before Gurment knew what was happening, Mason had smashed him to the canvas.

He tried valiantly to recover, but was clearly unable to fight on and so the referee waved off the contest early.

Both Shakur Stevenson and Ryan Garcia reacted by praising the 19-year-old.

Stevenson tweeted: “I keep tryna tell that he is the FUTURE OF BOXING. And he’s getting more brutal each fight!”

Garcia added: “I have to admit this kid is next.”
