Gervonta Davis puts his WBA Lightweight World title on the line against fellow undefeated southpaw Frank Martin on June 15.

The Baltimore superstar was elevated to full champion when Devin Haney moved up to 140lbs and will make his maiden defence against ‘The Ghost’, who will enter the ring undefeated in 18 with twelve early finishes.

Martin will be cornered by acclaimed trainer Derrick James and the pair are confident of a game-plan that will avoid becoming the 28th fighter big puncher Davis stops inside the distance.

One man who’s seen the preparation up close is Errol Spence, previously coached by James before a recent split and legal dispute. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, the former welterweight champion backed his gym-mate Martin.

“I see him getting his hand raised. I feel like he’s the most skilled, talented fighter that Tank ever fought. He can’t take those early rounds off and feel like he’s gonna come in the seventh, eighth round and hope for a knockout. I feel like Frank gonna dominate him first through twelfth round and win the fight.”

Spence – who lost his belt and undefeated record to Terence Crawford last year – gave props to ‘Tank’ Davis, but believes Martin brings speed, strength and power unlike any of his other opponents so far.

“Tank’s gonna put up a fight, he’s a great fighter, but I feel like Frank’s definitely gonna take it. He’s the best fighter he’s ever fought and he’s gonna see the speed, he’s gonna see the strength, he’s gonna see the power that Frank brings to the table come fight night.”
