And Anthony Joshua

The WBA light heavyweight champion will defend his belt against British contender Lyndon Arthur during the Day of Reckoning in Saudia Arabia on Saturday night.

Ahead of the card, much of the talk has been about a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder being set up next year, provided they beat their respective opponents this weekend.

However, Bivol is aiming to book a much more meaningful fight if he gets by Arthur, who is a massive underdog, when they clash at the Kingdom Arena.

Artur Berterbiev holds the WBO, WBC, and IBF light heavyweight titles and he will put them on the line against Callum Smith in Quebec City on January 13.

The 19-0 knockout artist is also keen on facing Bivol in a fight the Russian claims has already been discussed with the people hosting his latest bout.

“When I signed the contract with the Saudis to fight against Lyndon Arthur, it wasn’t the main thing that they wanted,” Bivol told Fight Hype on Tuesday.

“They want to make the undisputed fight in the light heavyweight division, and this is why I’m here.

“I fight, and my next fight will be for the undisputed in my weight class, not at super middleweight because the subject with Canelo is closed. I have my own way.ope that I will win this

Bivol doesn’t expect Smith, who previously unified the belts at super middleweight, to scupper his planned fight with Beterbiev next month.

“I give him more chance to win than Callum Smith, to be honest,” Bivol added when asked who he favours in the upcoming unified light heavyweight title bout.

Bivol became one of boxing’s biggest stars in 2022.

Before that, he was well respected after picking up 19 consecutive victories and a world title – but he wasn’t viewed as one of the sport’s icons until he fought Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

After winning all four belts at 168lbs, the Mexican boxing legend stepped up a division and announced his intention to achieve the same feat at light heavyweight.

However, his first title fight against Bivol proved to be much tougher than expected and he ultimately slumped to a clear decision defeat when they fought.

Today, Bivol is widely regarded as one of boxing’s pound-for-pound best fighters, and would almost certainly claim the top spot if he beats Beterbiev in 2024.
