Canelo Alvarez

Terence Crawford has doors open for a shot against Canelo Alvarez, would take it “in a heartbeat”

Terence Crawford recently weighed in on the implications of Canelo leaving PBC, especially the opportunity of him fighting Canelo Alvarez, a fight that he claims to jump on immediately.

Canelo Alvarez has been tippy toing around his next contenders, especially after leaving the Premier Boxing Champions promotion company which tied him to several fights within their pool.

When leaving the organization Canelo now can fight Crawford, however, Terance will have to move up two classes, he needs to move up to 154,160 or 168, this would make the undisputed champion more comfortable coming to terms with Bud’s company.

Terence “Bud” Crawford was asked if he thought Canelo’s reason to leave PBC was to be able and fight Benavidez or him, to which Crawford mentioned, “I don’t think that’s true. I think Canelo’s reasons for moving from PBC is his own personal reasons,”.

Canelo’s former fight against Jermell Charlo was more of the same, the Mexican champion has been highly criticized for not accepting challenges from fighters who are hungry for a title. Canelo has also been facing backlash from fans as most of his fights end in a decision and has not been able to knock an opponent out.

Fighting Terence Crawford, David Benavidez, and Jaime Munguia would put an end to those comments that he does not take in real challenges. Jaime Munguia recently fought John Ryder and knocked him down 5 times and the fight ended in TKO. Munguia is also ready to make the Canelo fight happen and many in the WBC are pushing for that to come to fruition.

Meanwhile, Crawford has confirmed that there haven’t been any direct talks with Canelo’s people about a possible fight, however, we’d love to make that happen.

Terence mentioned “Me and Canelo have never talked about fighting. Yeah, that’s a fight that I would take in a heartbeat, and I would look forward to taking it. But, no, I don’t think he moved because of Terence Crawford or Benavidez. I just think he’s handling his career the way he wants to. It’s always possible,”
