Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin

The fight will be streamed on Prime Video PPV

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin will do battle this Saturday in a fight in which neither is expected to hold anything back for the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title.

The bout to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, has a backstory, as both were part of the training team of former world multi-champion Floyd Mayweather.

Davis recalled the day he got mad at Martin when Martin managed to connect with him with a powerful left jab and it then became “kind of a wrestling match,” Tank recalled.

Martin recalled that he connected with a powerful punch that staggered his opponent, who tried to put him in a wrestling headlock.

Davis comes in as the heavy favorite for the bout

Tank Davis is marked as a heavy favorite and bookmakers are giving Frank Martin little chance to raise his fist at the end of the bout.

However, this situation seems to put Martin at ease, as he will come out without any pressure to go for the division title.

“These types of fights are the ones that define you. I feel like I’ve been the underdog in this sport since I started, so it’s nothing I’m not used to,” Martin said.

Both come into this bout with an undefeated record, as Davis has a 29-0 professional boxing record and a whopping 27 knockouts, while Martin has an 18-0 record with 12 knockout victories.

In addition, the co-feature fight will also be very attractive as it pits Mexican-American David Benavidez against Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
