In a recent media conference call, the legendary boxing icon and eight-time champion, Floyd Mayweather, alongside Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, reflected on the monumental fight with Canelo Alvarez. With excitement palpable in the air, Ellerbe set the stage as they discussed what many herald as the most awaited matchup in boxing history.

Starting off, Ellerbe expressed, “Mayweather versus Canelo is a fight that the world has been waiting for. We experienced record-breaking ticket sales, with the initial allocation flying off the shelves in a single day, surpassing Floyd’s previous record against Oscar De La Hoya. Additionally, our closed-circuit seating and movie theater allocations have enjoyed immense success, showcasing fans’ hunger for this clash. Our promotional partnerships with leading sponsors like Corona, AT&T, and Bacardi underscore the event’s unprecedented significance in boxing history.”As the discussion unfolded, Mayweather himself emphasized his gratitude towards the media, fans, and his team, stating, “This fight represents not only my legacy but also a chapter for future fighters. My children are in a position I’ve always wanted for them—wrapped in support and education that I never had. That’s my greatest accomplishment.”

A key moment in the conversation hinged on legacy and the importance of integrity in boxing. Mayweather remarked, “I worked hard to clean up the sport; that means establishing fair play through rigorous testing. I believe every athlete should adopt this ethos, making their surroundings level while competing at the highest level.” He continued to voice commitment to fostering new talent, advocating for a smaller, more focused roster in his promotional endeavors to ensure success and development of each fighter.

On the topic of competitive spirit, Mayweather shared the growth of the sport and the changing landscape for emerging fighters compared to his early career challenges. “Today’s boxers certainly have more avenues. The clutter of titles often misguides fans—one champion should exist per weight class. The reality now is convoluted, and we need to reevaluate what’s truly happening in boxing.”

The interview also touched on protocol ahead of the upcoming fight, with Mayweather addressing preparation, the atmosphere surrounding the mega event, and his thoughts on referee Kenny Bayless. Mayweather noted, “Kenny’s a great referee who understands how to allow fighters to shine. We need to focus and deliver an exciting match for our fans. Regardless of the pressure, it’s all about giving them a show they won’t forget.”

In a poignant moment, he reflected on his career’s trajectory and the mental landscape heading into this fight. “Age brings wisdom, and I’ve learned when to be assertive and when to temper my approach. I think the fans appreciate my evolution, and I aim to showcase that growth in the ring.”As the roundtable came to a close, Mayweather summed up the anticipation surrounding his face-off against Canelo. He highlighted, “This isn’t just another bout; this is a crossroads for boxing—two undefeated champions clashing. The world has been waiting—tune in, as the next chapter in boxing history is about to unfold.”

Fans worldwide are braced for the high-stakes battle, with confidence that the two rivals will deliver a fierce yet respectful competition, solidifying their statuses in the sport’s pantheon. The glory of Mayweather and Canelo awaits the ring’s embrace.

Failing to accept the offer would mean Anthony Joshua forfeits his opportunity to reclaim the championship belts that he lost after a surprising defeat to the young heavyweight in September at Wembley Stadium.

Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been given a strict 48-hour ultimatum to accept a highly anticipated rematch against Daniel Dubois, set for February.

Failing to accept the offer would mean Anthony Joshua forfeits his opportunity to reclaim the championship belts that he lost after a surprising defeat to the young heavyweight in September at Wembley Stadium.

In that shocking bout, Dubois, who is just 27 years old, sent Joshua to the canvas four times before his corner decided to throw in the towel during the fifth round. This loss for Joshua was particularly harrowing, occurring in front of a massive crowd of 96,000 fans at Wembley.

Initially, plans were set for a rematch to take place in Saudi Arabia next February. However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has voiced concerns that the timeline for a rematch may be too ambitious given the circumstances surrounding Joshua’s previous performance.

Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, is pushing for a swift resolution and has made it clear that if Joshua does not respond within the next 48 hours, the rematch would likely be off the table.

Warren expressed his urgency when speaking to iFLTV, stating, “Unless AJ gets back to us in the next 48 hours, yes,” in response to whether the rematch was in jeopardy.

Warren is eager to announce the fight and hopes to have clarity by tomorrow, even hinting that there may be no progress on the matter for at least another week after that.

Meanwhile, Barry Hearn, the father of Joshua’s promoter, offered his perspective on the impending rematch. He believes that, with a different strategy, Joshua could potentially find success against Dubois in a second encounter.

However, he also cautioned against hasty decisions, advocating for a more measured approach. “I think Dubois is dangerous, and he’s going to be super confident after the last job. I still believe AJ would probably beat him in a rematch if he boxed differently, but that’s just my opinion,” he told The Mirror.

The famous Iron Mike was a box office magnet in each of his fights since he was champion.

Mike Tyson and otherworldly earnings for his time

Throughout his professional career, Mike Tyson was that box office magnet that boxing needed, and which made Don King and several of his trainers tremendously rich. With earnings close to 500 million dollars in his career thanks to fights, the 58-year-old boxer proved to be a great candidate in his prime. He filled stadiums and achieved great deals for his promoters. Fans also flocked to the stadiums to see him put on a show; the figures also back up these claims.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson and his million-dollar PPVs

Mike Tyson was famous for taking out his rivals in the early rounds, but that did not affect his box office magnetism, both in the arenas and on pay-per-view. One of the first fights on the list that was a resounding success was when Iron Mike fought Bruce Seldon in 1996 with the WBA heavyweight title at stake.

It ended with a first-round knockout and 1.15 million PPV buys, but the fight is most famous for being one of the last public appearances of Tupac Shakur.

The New York native defended his title against Frank Bruno in 1989 and there we saw an inexplicable combination of 13 punches in the third round and sent his opponent to the canvas. It produced 1.37 PPV purchases. Tyson would then do better on the economic front when he returned from his four-year layoff after serving a prison sentence. The Brooklyn native’s return to the ring after a prolonged absence created a buzz and interest among fans to see if Tyson was still at his former level.

Iron Mike’s return to the ring made it clear that he was far from dropping his magnet for PPV and he fought Peter McNeeley and grossed 1.55 million pay-per-view. This comeback fight grossed more than $96 million worldwide, including a record $63 million in the U.S. for television.

It set records for both viewership and PPV revenue. One of the most important fights of Tyson’s career was against Evander Holyfield, when he put his titles on the line. Holyfield rose to the challenge and his aggressiveness handed Tyson his second defeat. The fight offered fireworks for the fans, and the same was reflected in the PPV figures, which recorded 1.59 million PPVs.

Floyd Mayweather once said, “There is no blueprint to beat me,” and this remained true until the end of his career. Mayweather fought 50 times in his 21-year career, and not once was he defeated. Challengers kept challenging him and failed miserably every time. They just did not have the answer against The Pretty Boy.

Even after Mayweather fractured his wrists in a fight against Carlos Hernandez, he adjusted his style accordingly and kept his undefeated streak going. The transformation of Mayweather from a smashing KO machine to a technical defensive master was not pretty, but showcased his talent completely. In recent years, many fans have started taking inspiration from Mayweather’s late career style to determine the winners of the fight. Boxing analyst Showbizz The Adult slammed this notion in his latest video and called out the fans.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Gervonta 'Tank

Floyd Mayweather was a killer

Showbizz talked about the famous defensive outboxing style of Mayweather in the later stages of his career. He also mentioned the influence that style has had on the world and how it has completely changed the way fans watch boxing. “People are looking at what Floyd Mayweather did. The stick and move and how he fought and think if you look as close to that as possible, you won the fight,” said the analyst.

A Gervonta Davis versus Shakur Stevenson match-up is one of the most intriguing clash of styles in all of boxing.

Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion and is known for his explosive power, securing an impressive 28 knockouts from his 30 victories.

Stevenson is the WBC belt holder at 135 and goes about his business in a different way. He’s known for his excellent defensive skills and keeps to the old boxing adage of ‘hit and don’t get hit’.

The two unbeaten fighters have long been linked to a unification bout but as of yet no deal has come close.

One man who knows a thing or two about dominating the lighter weights is former pound-for-pound star Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather, who guided a large portion of ‘Tank’s career before a bitter split, has now given his verdict on the two fighters.

In an interview with the It Is What It Is praised both men for being the best in the division.

“You got guys fighting between 130, 135 and 160. They stacked around that area. As of right now, the two guys… The biggest puncher at 135 would probably be Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, but the most skilful fighter at 135 would be, hands down, Shakur Stevenson.”

Asked if Shakur’s talents were enough to be the best without carrying the type power ‘Tank’ does, Mayweather believes ultimately it’s ‘skills that pay the bills’.

“It’s really all about skills. Pernell Whitaker wasn’t a huge puncher, but he was very exciting, very tough and he fought everybody. Shakur’s trying do the same thing. He want to fight the best they got out there. He’s asking can he fight the best.”

Gervonta Davis is back in the ring on December 14, when he will defend his title against Lamont Roach Jr at the Toyota Center in Houston.

If you are a Tiger Woods fan, better prepare yourself. Wait… don’t get confused! We only meant that the golfer and his son might not be able to tee it up at the 2024 PNC Championship. But even though Charlie Woods and his father might miss something that has become close to an annual family tradition, the former will have to prepare himself. Any guesses why? Well, on the off chance that he does show it off, Woods Jr. would have to face his 13-year-old rival. Yes, we are talking exactly about Annika Sorenstam’s son, the athlete who recently turned many heads at a junior golf championship.

The female golfer’s son is currently teeing it off at the Disney Fall Junior Open that is taking place at the Walt Disney World Palm course from October 5, Saturday, to October 6, Sunday. The young athlete, interestingly, is leading the scoreboard for the 11-13 age group of the boys division at 1-under par 71 after the first round of play.

Sorenstam’s son managed to card a total of three birdies during his first round, at the par-3 3rd, par-5 7th, and par-4 14th at the Hurricane Jr. Golf tournament. The golfer also went ahead to dish out two bogeys in the last three holes, at the par-3 16th and the par-4 18th. Regardless, it still seems like quite an impressive feat, seeing as Woods Jr.’s rival boasts a 2-shot lead heading into the final round.

Come Sunday, Will McGee will be teeing it off alongside the likes of Leo Taylor and Theodoros Kalionchiz, the two of whom occupy T2 and T3, respectively. What’s more, they will be kicking off their final round from the first tee at 2:21 p.m. on October 6.

Will McGee sure has it in him to emerge victorious at the tournament. Doubtful? Don’t be, for he had already captivated the attention of many during the two times he teed it off at the PNC Championship alongside his mother. Remember his ace in the first round of the tournament? Well, you can expect something similar from the youngster even if Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods are present at the PGA Tour Champions event!

As far as bad news goes, it’s not the worst, seeing as how Tiger Woods is currently in recovery. Moreover, his recent post also paints a hopeful picture for the golfer, who had surgery in September 2024. “The surgery went smoothly, and I’m hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season,” said the golfer in a statement after his lumbar spine procedure. “I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”

For those who are unclear about the surgery, listen carefully. Tiger Woods had been experiencing back spasms for a while now (as evident in the majors that he played). As a result, he underwent microdecompression surgery led by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi of the Hospital for Special Surgery. They did so to treat the golfer’s nerve impingement on his lower back.

Claressa Shields and Lauren Price are the only two women to have won Olympic middleweight gold medals so far; Shields and Price are now professional world champions operating in different weight divisions but the American star can see a super-fight with Price taking place down the line

Claressa Shields is a unique fighter. An undisputed champion, she is a multi-weight titlist who has also competed in MMA and who will go for a title in a fourth division later this month.

She will challenge Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse for the WBC heavyweight championship in Detroit.

Claressa Shields

The Olympic middleweight gold medal has only been won by two women, Shields in 2012 and 2016, and most recently Wales’ Lauren Price, who triumphed at the Tokyo Games.

Price dropped down to welterweight after the Olympics and is only seven bouts into her professional career, but has won the inaugural women’s British title and the WBA world title already.

After traveling across the entire nation, Simone Biles and Co. are currently in the Lone Star State. But on October 20, the G.O.A.T. finally made the much-anticipated stop in the gymnast’s hometown of Houston. The “pop concert-style spectacle” graced the Moody Center on Saturday. For obvious reasons, the 11x Olympic medalist was as excited as ever to return to where it all began after her spectacular display in the French capital.

But since then, the gymnast has focused on heading the star-studded tour. In fact, Houston was just as excited to welcome the prodigal daughter home. However, no one was as excited as Ronni Biles, aka Baby Biles. The tiny tot watched her ‘TT’ dazzle the crowds at Bercy Arena in the French capital. Seeing how Simone Biles was finally in Houston, Sammi Biles, the gymnast’s sister-in-law, shared an adorable clip on her Instagram stories of them walking towards the stadium.

Simone Biles

Captioned, “my whole heart. so excited 🥹,” Sammi asks Ronnie, whom she sees as they approach the gates. As adorable as ever, she exclaims, “TT!” We can definitely see why she is excited to watch Simone Biles. Sammi matches her energy by chanting, “TT go, TT go.” The tiny tot can’t help but lift her hands up and clap as her mom continues chanting.

Shortly after making it inside, Sammi shares another video of them enjoying the show. Everyone has eyes for the stage, but Ronnie Biles is looking elsewhere. Her father holds her on his lap as Baby Biles looks over to the side, pointing at what we assume is a giant screen. Maybe she is trying to get a better look at her aunt.

The official Gold Over America Tour Instagram account shared a video of Clutch, the Houston Rockets mascot, trying to woo the Olympian with his gymnastics skills. They captioned the video, “Houston, are you ready to GOAT this weekend?” And boy, oh boy, were they ready. Even though Clutch’s moves were slightly shakey, he managed to bring a smile to the most decorated gymnast’s face. However, Baby Biles wasn’t the only one who got to watch the G.O.A.T. in her element.

Guess who stopped by in Houston to spend time with Simone Biles?

Simone Biles

A certain Chicago Bears safety cheered his wife on while she racked up medals in the French capital. However, as soon as they returned to the States, their time was cut short. The culprit in question? Their unbelievably busy schedules. Jonathan Owens had to resume training for the ongoing NFL season while the Olympian prepared to take the Gold Over America Tour onto the stage. Even though they had to settle for a long-distance situation, they found ways to visit each other throughout.

Simone Biles was back in her hometown, and she couldn’t help but share it on her Instagram story. But she wasn’t alone. Jonathan Owens joined her as they shared some much-needed alone time. The G.O.A.T. shared a few snaps of them sharing brunch, her infamous pout, while her husband sneaks a tender kiss. In fact, the lovebirds even enjoyed some shopping therapy as they walked around the streets of her hometown.

Twenty-three-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has been tapped to grace the cover of Essence magazine, sharing with the world the woman she has become after her legendary tennis career.

However, some people think she has become something very unnatural to whoever she was born to be, saying that miraculously she has turned into a white woman right before the public’s eye.

The mother of two posted a behind-the-scenes video on her Instagram of the shoot, serving up several fierce looks with what looks like a 40-inch blond wig.

The opening shot is shoes galore before panning the Chanel jewelry spread. From a black slinky satin number to a red and white outfit, topped off by a red feather hat, fashion and style seems to come second nature to the A-lister.

Tennis, Alexandra Cadantu reports about her e | IMAGO

Her face is beat to the gods by a makeup artist, using her own Wyn brand, and in frame after frame she is reminding people that the superstar she was on the court is the same superstar she is off it.

Graciously, she captioned the post, “Thank you so much, @essence, for allowing me to grace your cover to talk about my business ventures.”

She continued, “From investing in women and diversity with my VC company @serena.ventures to having my active makeup line that lasts all day and is clean and vegan, I love being a businesswoman. I told you I was not going anywhere; I was just evolving. Thanks, @wyn! Now let’s go and #WYN.”

However, while the post was meant to inspire, there were many in her comment section who dredged up a persistent claim — that the Compton native, who currently has an estimated net worth of $340 million, according to Forbes, wants to be white.

One comment wondered, “Why does she look so light?”

More questions poured in, with one person asking, “Who is that white woman?” as another mocked, “Girl you done turned into a whole white women before my eyes and you think I want to join you.”

Immediately the mother of two’s supporters took aim, defending their queen.

“I remember yall came for Megan Good when she popped out lighter and accused her of bleaching. She had to aht aht aht and tell yall she got a chemical peel,” one person said, explaining, “Serena doesn’t play in the sun anymore and skincare has come a long way since 2003.”

The person then added, “Everybody needs to take several seats and try something other than clean and clear and clearasil k thanks.”

This is not the first time that Serena has been accused of trying to be white. Many point to her marriage to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and the father of her two little girls, as influencing her to lighten her skin, reduce her more African features with makeup and try other cosmetic procedures to look more European.

While there were critics, so many people loved what they saw and celebrated not just her but her products.

“By the way just Burn the set down can’t anyone else use it because Serena scorched it completely,” someone posted.
