Gervonta Davis is in the business of knocking people out.

The 29-year-old from Baltimore has been taken the distance just twice in his undefeated campaign, stopping the other 28 opponents often with one perfect shot.

‘Tank’ is part of a talented group of young American fighters who fans want to see face off. Also included is one Teofimo Lopez, the two-weight champion from Brooklyn.

Speaking on the It Is What It Is podcast, Lopez detailed how a fight would play out against Davis.

“I would say I don’t think it will enter the championship rounds. Someone getting knocked out. May the best man win.”

Asked why he wasn’t conclusively backing himself to win, he then gave a more confident prediction.

“I got to give him a little fair chance. I think I dominate any of them. If you really look at, you gotta really tap in on this, look at the resume, all the s**t, whatever. There’s a certain limit that you hit and then there’s that next top tier, and if you don’t match that you’re never gonna know how great you really are. I’ve done that a few times already. I jumped out that and did that. I’ve yet to see Gervonta come out of that box.”

Lopez then went on to criticise ‘Tank’s matchmaking, drawing on the recent news that he is set to face super-featherweight titleholder Lamont Roach next.
