Floyd Mayweather has been known to flaunt his wealth, but he remarkably spent $18million on one item.

Mayweather has become one of the world’s biggest sporting superstars, with his skills in the boxing ring seeing him retire with a perfect professional record of 50 wins.

The American became one of the sport’s biggest ever pay-per-view draws and headlined the biggest events, resulting in the legend pocketing a remarkable $1.2billion in total earnings.

During his career and since his retirement, Mayweather has been living a plush lifestyle buying a whole host of properties, luxury items and making other investments.

But one of his most expensive purchases ever came on an incredible luxury watch, a passion which he has shared with his fans for several years.

In 2018, Mayweather revealed that he had picked up a new ‘Billionaire Watch’ to add to his incredible collection, for the small price of $18m.

The custom-made timepiece was first revealed in 2015, and is made by luxury jewellers Jacob & Co.

Incredibly, the watch is made of emerald-cut diamonds to a total of 260 carats, with each single stone weighing a monstrous 3 carats.

It’s bracelet to hold the clock face in place also has 18 carats, and the watch is one-of-a-kind, the only version of this model to exist on the planet.

The watch ranks as one of the most expensive to have ever been purchased in the world, and its worth puts it alongside some of Mayweather’s biggest-ever investments.

He bought the watch off of jeweller Tadashi Fukushima and it is considered the prized possession of his collection.

Mayweather posted an image of his new purchase for fans to see six years ago, while showing off his crazy amount of jewellery he already owns.

The Instagram story featured the 5’8 feet former boxer in his ‘Air Mayweather 2’ flaunting two huge big wads of cash. Not only that, he also gave fans a tour of the jet’s customizable interior lights, cycling through four different lighting setups at his request. There were 4 light changes before he took his attention to someone sitting behind him.

Floyd Mayweather took the cash towards him and urged every fighter in the world to follow the man now standing beside him. The mystery guest was none other than Richard Schaefer. “I need every fighter, everyone in the world, all the MMA, boxers, follow this man right here,” stated Floyd Mayweather.

For those who are unaware, Floyd Mayweather and Richard Schafer have a long history together. Schaefer was the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions when Floyd Mayweather fought some nine fights under GBP. The promotion as well as Schaefer played a very important role in shaping Mayweather’s later career after he broke off from Bob Arum’s Top Rank. Golden Boy Promotions under the helm of Schaefer was responsible for many big matches in his career, notably against Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and Marcos Maidana.

In 2014, Schafer parted ways with the Golden Boys and opened his own promotional company, Ringstar Sports. After Schaefer’s exit, Floyd Mayweather too cut his ties with Golden Boy Promotions. So it’s not surprising that when Leonard Ellerbe left Mayweather Promotions in June, Floyd Mayweather brought in the one man he wanted running his company, Richard Schaefer. And now, Schaefer is leading Mayweather Promotions. Hence, the high praise from Mayweather.

Mayweather’s endorsement of Schaefer likely reflects their ongoing professional ties, particularly as Mayweather continues to involve himself in lucrative ventures.

Floyd Mayweather’s $48 million move

As if his luxury jet wasn’t enough, he has also listed his Beverly Hills mansion for sale at a staggering $48 million, as mentioned earlier. He purchased the French-style property back in 2017 for $25 million following his victory over Canelo Alvarez. Over the years, Floyd Mayweather invested in high-end renovations, reportedly spending $500,000 on upgrades that include lavish chandeliers, mirrored fireplaces, and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

The 15,096 square-foot mansion, listed by ‘Mansion Global’, for a whopping price of $48 million boasts six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and multiple entertainment rooms, providing every conceivable luxury for potential buyers. Even if Mayweather sells the mansion for less than the asking price, he stands to make a substantial profit of close to $20 million, further padding his already impressive net worth.

Mayweather’s ability to turn his wealth into even greater fortune is undeniable. Whether it’s selling a mansion for a multi-million-dollar profit or flying in a private jet outfitted with every possible luxury, the former world champion remains a master at both flaunting and growing his fortune. Floyd Mayweather claims he was paid $1million just to take a phone call and open negotiations with KSI’s brother Deji.

‘TBE’ retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an unblemished 50-0 record but has continued competing in exhibition bouts deep into his forties.

In his fifth outing in the crossover boxing sphere, he took on YouTube star Deji in Dubai under one-and-done promoter Global Titans.

At first, Mayweather wasn’t entirely convinced by the legitimacy of the newly formed company.

But they showed their financial resolve by paying him an extortionate fee just to pick up the phone.

“They reached out to me and said ‘Floyd, we’d like you in Dubai again’, Mayweather told Fight Hype.

“The other one was supposed to be in Dubai and it got moved to Abu Dhabi, but they want me back in the UAE.

“I said ‘Let’s make it happen,’ but I also told them I won’t get on the phone unless I know the numbers, then we can talk.

“They said, ‘We’ll get you on the phone’ and they wired me $1m. So I got on the phone ASAP and said ‘What’s going on?’

“They said they wanted me to do [an exhibition] with a YouTuber, I said, ‘Yo, let’s make it happen’.

“We’re doing these exhibitions and it doesn’t matter what happens, I can get knocked out and I’m still 50-0!

“I did what I had to do when it really counted, it don’t count now.”
