Novak Djokovic Defeats Cameron Norrie to Get to Wimbledon Final - The New York Times

Paris Olympics Men’s Day 1 Predictions

Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada) vs Marcos Giron (United States)

Damian:
Two players who aren’t that good in slower clay conditions, but it still feels like Auger-Aliassime is a class ahead. Giron just picked up that maiden title in Newport and might be playing a bit pressure-free here. His baseline shots just aren’t that good though and this is a surface where you need that consistent depth.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2

Shane:
Giron is coming off his maiden title in Newport. His consistency from the ground is at an all time high. However, Auger-Aliassime has found his form over the past few months. He reached the second week of the French Open and should feel confident in his game on the clay.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3

Yesh:

Giron somehow always finds his best tennis for the biggest events. His best tennis isn’t enough to really trouble the Canadian, though.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3

Dan Evans (Great Britain) vs Moez Echargui (Tunisia)

Damian:
Echargui got this chance by winning the African Games and against most of the draw, he wouldn’t really stand a shot. Evans is very average on clay though and is in the middle of a truly horrendous season. But he knows how to peak when he’s playing for his country and will likely grind this out if he needs to.
Prediction: Evans in 2

Shane:
Evans has not had the best season, but he is the heavy favorite against the World No. 373. Echargui has only beaten one Top 100 player in his career. If Evans doesn’t implode, he should have no problem in this match.
Prediction: Evans in 2

Yesh:
Even on clay, Evans is just too good in this matchup. It won’t be close.
Prediction: Evans in 2

Novak Djokovic will face Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final. It's a rematch from 2021 | AP News

Damian:
Skip. Ebden hasn’t played a singles match in two years and while he was in the Top 40 back in the day, his clay win rate for the whole career is about 33%. The most interesting thing here will be whether Djokovic is wearing the knee brace, but even that won’t tell us much about his form going into the rest of the event.
Prediction: Djokovic in 2

Shane:
Is Djokovic 100% healthy? Likely not, but that should not matter in this first-round matchup. The 24x Grand Slam champion is on the hunt for Olympic Gold.
Prediction: Djokovic in 2

Yesh:
Djokovic has given no indication that he’s retiring anytime soon, but this is almost certainly his final Olympics. After winning Bronze in 2008, his Olympic results have been disappointing, to say the least. I don’t know if he can win Gold this year, but it’s his last chance for the one achievement missing from his illustrious career. He’s not falling at the first hurdle.
Prediction: Djokovic in 2

Claressa Shields has challenged Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano to fight her and settle the greatest woman fighter of all time debate.

Shields, nicknamed the GWOAT and considered one of the world’s best boxers, male or female, aims to become a four-weight world champion on Saturday.

The undefeated American steps up to 12st 7lb (175lb) to fight for the WBC heavyweight title and WBO light-heavyweight belt.

Shields felt the referee should have stopped her fight against Ema Kozin as she won by unanimous decision

Speaking at a news conference before her fight in Detroit with Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse, Shields addressed her rivals.

“Any of those girls who want to be the GWOAT, all you got to do is make the fight with me,” she said.

“Alycia Baumgardner, Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor – all you got to do is make the fight with me. Then I can show you, you’re not the GWOAT.”

Shields, 29, is undefeated in 14 pro fights and was the first fighter, male or female, to be undisputed champion in two weight classes in the four-belt era.

The two-time Olympic champion has been world champion at middleweight, light-middleweight and super-middleweight.

Irishwoman Taylor replicated Shields’ undisputed achievement last year, while Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano is a seven-weight world champion.

Claressa Shields Claims 'GWOAT' Status on a Big Night for Women's Boxing - The New York Times

“Everyone is talking about who’s the GWOAT? Who’s undefeated? Who got the most belts?,” Shields added.

“Who made the million dollars last couple of time she fought? Without a promoter giving her a handout? That’s what a GWOAT is. Who fights the best?

“Who don’t struggle in fights no matter what size? Exactly.

UPDATE:Davis and Shields have had a public disagreement in the past, with Davis making derogatory comments about Shields

“All that comparison about who the GWOAT is, I can go to any weight class and win. That’s who the GWOAT is.”

The WBC title Shields challenges for is classified as ‘heavyweight’ by the sanctioning body, but it is contested at the light-heavyweight limit of 12st 7lb (175lb), hence why the fight is being advertised as both at heavyweight and light-heavyweight.

The path is clear for Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson to make an all-American lightweight unification fight.

Davis was elevated to full WBA Champion when Devin Haney moved up a division and successfully defended his belt with a clean knockout of fellow-southpaw Frank Martin.

Fans stunned as Gervonta Davis shares ‘lookalike’ Jursly Vargas who has 100 per cent knockout ratio

Stevenson fought for the vacant WBC belt against Edwin De Los Santos and then defended it against Artem Harutyunyan, both wins coming comfortably over the distance but being criticised by some for being less than entertaining. Shakur hit back at the doubters by saying he would perform at his best when he faces the best.

Enter ‘Tank’ Davis, who is now without an opponent due to IBF Champion Vasiliy Lomachenko backing out of early negotiations.

What makes things simpler still is the fact that Stevenson has now entered a period of free agency after a long stint with promotional giant Top Rank. Head honcho Bob Arum, although he may not be involved in making it happen at this stage, predicted the fight earlier this year.

Bob Arum speaks on why Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson is not feasible - "We're not gamblers"

He told Boxing Scene that not only does he believe Stevenson beats Davis, but Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez do too.

“Tank Davis is an excellent fighter and a big attraction. So sure we’d like to match [Stevenson, Lomachenko, and Lopez] against Tank Davis and see how well they would do. I like our guys to win the fight … All three would beat Davis. I really believe that … but that’s why they do the fights, right? Again, we’re open to any of that.”

‘Tank’s co-trainer, Kenny Ellis, recently said that the only way the fight won’t happen is down to fear on Stevenson’s part.

When Floyd Mayweather invites you for a night out in Las Vegas, you know it will be extraordinary. Picture this: the neon lights of the strip reflecting off luxury cars, the pulsating energy of the city that never sleeps, and ‘Money Mayweather’ at the centre of it all.

From exclusive cigar lounges to high-roller tables, this was no ordinary night out. We sipped ‘Good Money Whiskey’ and indulged in caviar before discussing Mayweather’s relationship with his father, the key moments in his career, the current crop of boxers, and his exhibition earnings.

In true Mayweather style, he arrived at Eight Lounge, a chic cigar spot, in a blacked-out SUV, wearing a £2,000 Gucci jacket and a gleaming Rolex. Fans clamoured for photos as he was greeted by models holding sparklers and a glowing Mayweather sign.

‘I do like the finer things in life’, Mayweather quipped when asked about his love for luxury. ‘I enjoy my cars and my watches but money don’t make me, I make money.

Spoonfuls of caviar, $500 tips and giant TVs with his victorious fights on loop... how Floyd Mayweather likes to party as Mail Sport hit the strip with notorious boxing great | Daily

‘I don’t just keep all the money either, I give back to the less fortunate. My mother don’t want for nothing, my loved ones don’t want for anything. My team live a pretty good life. They travel the world, stay at five star hotels. But, the most important thing is, we are happy. I was happy before I made money. With or without money I am a happy person.’

A fixture on the Vegas Strip with his 7,000-square-foot gentleman’s club and top-tier boxing gym, Mayweather took charge behind the bar, crafting an Old Fashioned cocktail with his Good Money Whiskey – a brand now available in 10 states including Nevada, California, and Florida.

When handed the five-year-old whiskey, Mayweather joked, ‘She’s come all the way from the UK, and you’re giving her the five-year-old whiskey? She deserves the 10-year!’

Though not drinking himself, Mayweather passed the cocktail with a knowing smile. ‘It’s just like boxing,’ he said confidently. ‘I had the best team, so I got the best results. I’ve got the best team working on my brands, too. Just try it and you’ll see.’

With a drink in hand, we moved to Mayweather’s exclusive area, adorned with Le Bon Argent Champagne and attentive waitresses ensuring my glass was always full. Intrigued by highlight reels of his career playing on the screens above head, I asked the boxing legend about his favorite memory.

‘I’m not sure which one was my favourite fight but the best fighter I ever fought probably was Manny Pacquiao. I can see why he won so many fights, it’s all the moves he would make. But, I reckon to roughest fight I ever had was Emanuel Augustus, he was very tough competitor. When I faced him, I think he was 26 with 14 losses but extremely tough.

‘That being said, I think around half of my 50 fights were world title fights, so they were all good fights’.

Mayweather faced and defeated some of the biggest names in boxing, including Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, and Canelo Alvarez. He also claimed world titles in five different weight classes: Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Light Welterweight, Welterweight, and Light Middleweight.

But the true highlight of his career was walking away unharmed—a poignant topic given his father and uncle, Roger, both suffered neurological damage resulting in memory loss.

‘The real highlight of my career is that I am still able to communicate. That I am still able to speak well. I am still able to read and write. I am able to spend time with my children and I am able to travel. I still have all my faculties. That’s the part about my career I am most pleased with. Not everyone gets that luxury and I’ve seen it first hand.’

Mayweather’s relationship with his father has been complex but pivotal. Mayweather Sr. was instrumental in shaping his son’s career, developing the defensive style that became his hallmark. Despite public disagreements and periods of estrangement, their bond remains strong.

‘My dad was my inspiration growing up. Without my dad I wouldn’t have any of this. Without my dad I wouldn’t have the crazy real estate portfolio I have. I wouldn’t have met my two best friends, James McNair and Ricki Brazil. I wouldn’t be here with you today. My dad is my driving force, my dad is everything to me.’

A stark contrast to when Mayweather lashed out at his father in 2011, shouting: ‘You couldn’t fight for s***. You weren’t nothing but a motherf***ing cab driver… bum a** trainer. You weren’t s*** as a fighter, so how you gonna be something as a trainer. Get the f*** out my gym f*****t!’.

While other kids played, Mayweather’s childhood was a whirlwind of responsibilities, juggling time between caring for his drug-addict mother and training with his father.

Floyd Mayweather has conquered the ring but now he has ventured into the world of luxury spirits... here's what happened when we opened a bottle of the boxing icon's Good Money Whiskey |

‘My dad was about business, ever since I was a kid. From 1985, my dad had me running five miles a day. He wouldn’t let me run in sneakers either. He made me run five miles every day in combat boots while I was a child.

‘He also brought me out into the garden and made me chop wood. He always told me, there is no room for excuses. He said no matter how many fights you win, it’s never good enough, you can always get better. There is always room for growth.

‘But, my dad gave me structure. He helped mould me into the man I am today. A man of honour, a man of dignity. A stand-up guy. A person that believes he can get better. It’s all because of my father.’

As we chatted, one of Floyd’s friend casually offered spoonfuls of caviar around the room. This wasn’t your average caviar; it was the kind that likely costs more than my entire monthly salary. The nonchalant manner in which it was served, however, made it seem like an everyday snack.

Meanwhile, Eddie Griffin, a comedian from American sitcom Malcolm & Eddie, flitted around the room casually cracking jokes before diving into the high-stakes action at the casino tables.

Having accompanied him to the high-roller area, I watched in awe as players casually dropped $500k per round on craps. It was clear I’d be spectating rather than participating in this high-rolling spectacle.

While Mayweather wasn’t one to splurge at the tables, he was exceptionally generous with his tips. When $500 slipped from his pocket, he handed it to a waitress without hesitation and quickly pulled out another $500 for her colleague, making sure everyone felt appreciated.

Mayweather’s wealth stems from his boxing prowess. Known for his defensive mastery and unmatched ring IQ, he earned the nickname ‘Pretty Boy’ for his flawless, unmarked face. He firmly believes no boxer will ever match his unique skills.

‘There will never be another boxer like me because my IQ was just on another level. You’ve got guys that have fast hands, you’ve got guys who have great punching power but they will never compete with my IQ.

‘My IQ was just on a whole different level. I could make adjustments that other people wouldn’t be able to do. Go look at the Shane Mosley fight. Guy hit me with a couple of good shots, I came back the next round a put on a master class.

‘I was zoned in and new exactly what he was going to do. I didn’t hear the crowd, I didn’t hear my trainer, I just listened to myself. I knew exactly what he was going to do. I had the ability to turn a fight on it’s head like that. Completely change the dynamic of a fight. That’s what it takes, a sharp mind, a good chin and the heart of a lion.’

Yet, despite his undefeated boxing record (50-0) and iconic status, Mayweather acknowledged personal defeats beyond the ring.

‘Losing my uncle was a defeat. Losing my grandmother was a defeat. Losing my housekeeper of 20-something years was a defeat. Losing the mother of my children was a defeat. Losing my best friend was a defeat. I have been defeated in ways like that. Everything you go through in life is an experience you can grow from. I just try to use those experiences to become stronger every day.’

Mayweather’s resilience in the face of such personal trials is mirrored in his approach to the racism he faced during his career.

‘You’re going to get racism and you’re going to have to deal with it. I knew I was going to deal with it but that never stopped me from being who I wanted to be. It never stopped me from believing in myself.

‘It was never going to stop me from taking myself to the top. I knew I was the best and nothing was going to hold me back. There are many fighters that will come after me that will experience the same thing.

‘I want them to be great and I don’t want them to be held back by it. I want them to surpass me if they can. Records are there to be broken but there will never be another Floyd Mayweather. I know that for a fact.’

Even in retirement, Mayweather keeps his love for boxing alive through exhibition bouts, taking on the likes of Deji Olatunji, Tenshin Nasukawa, and Logan Paul.

However, the pinnacle was his 2017 clash with MMA’s Conor McGregor. While Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and LeBron James collectively earned $259 million that year, Mayweather surpassed that sum in a single night, shattering boxing’s pay-per-view record with 6.5 million buys.

‘People have such a problem with my exhibitions. Jeff Bezos is well off but he’s still working. Warren Buffett, he’s probably in his 90’s now and he’s still working. The Walton’s who own Walmart are still working. Elon Musk is still working. So, it’s okay for me to work.

‘There is no risk with these exhibitions. I am taking on former MMA guys and YouTubers. They can’t get near me. It’s not a crime for me to have some fun with them and entertain the crowd.

‘I feel like I deserve it. I am still one of the most talked fighters in the sport of boxing and I’m not even boxing professionally anymore. So, it’s only right I am getting the payday to match it. I have plenty of offers I could show you on my phone. $300million, $100million, $50million, $20million, $17million. They are all offers sat on my phone right now. It all depends but if you pay, we play. It’s as simple as that.’

Despite having the potential to rake in $300million from an exhibition bout and being nicknamed ‘Money Mayweather,’ the 47-year-old had a hilariously human moment at the end of our night out.

Just as Brits might hit a kebab shop on their way home, Mayweather popped into the local doughnut shop. After ordering two boxes of doughnuts, Mayweather was floored when he was told the total would be $90.

Pulling out a thick wad of cash, he went to pay before pausing dramatically, spreading the bills across his hands and playfully quipping ‘I’ve got the money, I just don’t want to spend it!’.

Mayweather will return to the ring this summer for a rematch against John Gotti III – the grandson of the late mob boss – having first faced the 31-year-old back in June 2023, with the fight ending in chaos after a brawl broke out when people stormed the ring.

The last time Simone Biles attempted to vault in a competition arena at the Olympic Games, all hell broke loose. As Biles launched herself into her extremely difficult Amanar vault, she completely lost track of herself in the air, only managing one and a half twists instead of the planned two and a half. After withdrawing from the team final, Biles would spend most of her Olympic experience in the stands.

Three years on, Biles returned to the Olympic competition floor on Thursday morning as the women’s gymnastics teams worked their way through podium training, the one chance that gymnasts will have to train inside the Bercy Arena before the gymnastics competitions begin with the men’s qualifications on Saturday.

In her third rotation of the day, Biles flitted down the vault runway before launching herself on to the springboard with a back handspring. The 27-year-old increased her upward momentum by rebounding off the top of the vault table and wrapping in two piked backwards somersaults. She landed with her chest upright, her feet completely still: “Perfect! We’ll take this one in a heartbeat. It was really good,” said a smiling Cécile Canqueteau-Landi, one of Biles’s coaches, afterwards.

Days before the gymnastics competition begins, Biles has already produced one of the greatest pieces of gymnastics the Olympics has ever seen. Her Yurchenko Double Pike vault, which has been officially known as the Biles II since she unveiled it internationally at the world championships last year, is one of the hardest skills in the sport. No other female gymnast in the world vaults with enough power, strong technique or repulsion off the table to even think about attempting the vault. It is also one of the most difficult vaults in the men’s code of points.

Difficult skills are often produced at the detriment of form and technique, with gymnasts often having to force their hardest skills around, leading to issues like crossed legs or low chests on their landing which receive significant judging deductions. Not only has Biles shown that she can consistently perform the vault, she does so with near impeccable form, her legs squeezed tightly together and completely straight at the knee.

The Biles II requires no twisting and so last year, as she began her comeback after taking a break from the sport, Biles opted to re-introduce the vault in part because she still lacked confidence in her twisting following the mental block she suffered in Tokyo. It is reflective of Biles’s greatness that her idea of easing her way back into the sport was attempting one of the most difficult skills possible.

Such is the challenge this vault presents, Biles still had to mentally come to terms with executing it. Having debuted the vault in US competitions in 2019, last year Biles only attempted it with her other coach, Laurent Landi, standing beside her on the competition podium. Gymnasts receive an automatic neutral deduction of .5 points if their coach is on the competition floor during the routine.

After nailing the vault throughout last summer, Biles fell attempting it in the world championships vault final and she finished in second place behind Rebeca Andrade of Brazil. Even her errors are somehow impressive; she fell because she actually had too much power for the skill. The vault commands such a high start value (6.4) that without the automatic half-point deduction, Biles would have won the vault final with a fall. This year, with many more months of training behind her, she now attempts the skill without any coach nearby.

The objective of podium training is for gymnasts to adjust to the equipment on the field of play, which often feels significantly different on an elevated podium, and the dynamics of the arena as they finish their preparations. It was clear from Biles’s performance on Thursday that she was ready and relaxed on all pieces as she worked her way through the four apparatus with no issues.

While Biles was focused on the job at hand, she also laughed and chatted with her teammates Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, the former three gymnasts all returning from Tokyo to form one of the most experienced teams the US has ever boasted.

After a strong day of training, the US team, led by Biles, marched through the weaving mixed zone without stopping, their coaches delegated to speak with the media. They have been here before and in the qualification round on Sunday morning they will attempt to re-establish their dominance at the Olympics.

Difficult vaulting was a common theme on Thursday as the Bercy Arena witnessed the return of the Amanar vault. The Amanar, also known as the Yurchenko two and a half, was one of the defining skills of women’s gymnastics around a decade ago, an essential element that separated the top contenders from the rest. In addition to its significant number of twists, the vault finishes with a forward landing, meaning the gymnast cannot see the ground before the landing.

Time Magazine Rewards Simone Athlete Of The Year Award For His Attitude At The Tokyo Olympics

But in recent years it has faded from view. In Tokyo, few other than Biles and Andrade, arguably the two greatest ever vaulters, attempted an Amanar, and Andrade has not performed it outside of an Olympic Games in nearly a decade. The International Gymnastics Federation controversially chose to lower the difficulty of the vault, leading many to conclude that it was no longer worth attempting such a difficult and dangerous vault.

UPDATE:Simone Biles Receiving Yet Another Gift From Jonathan Owens Would Melt Gymnastics Community’s Heart

In Paris, the Amanar renaissance is actually coming from Great Britain, with British gymnasts continuing to perform such difficult gymnastics on the biggest stages. During their early morning podium training, the British gymnasts Alice Kinsella and Ruby Evans attempted the enormous vault and after some early difficulties they both landed the vault to their feet. “It’s pretty cool to bring back the Amanar,” said Kinsella, smiling.

Neither gymnast was sure about when they might attempt the vault in competition, but they were pleased with their progress. Kinsella actually prefers the Amanar vault to the very common Yurchenko double twist, an easier vault with only two twists, as she can unleash her full power when she attempts the more difficult version: “I think we just need to feel the block [vault table] and we’ll be fine,” said Evans. “We know what it feels like now so hopefully we can do it.”

Despite stumbling in his initial matches, Rahm clinched a victory against Woods on the final day, sinking a tense four-foot putt on the 17th hole and subsequently unleashing a torrent of emotion in celebration. Reflecting on his victory over Woods and its place in his list of career highs, the champ of the 2023 Masters shared: “It ranks very high. We lost to a great [Jordan] Spieth/Justin Thomas duo, and to win my first Ryder Cup point on Sunday against Tiger, it’s quite unique.

In a candid conversation with Time in 2022, Serena discussed the tough decisions women often face when raising a family. “It comes to a point where women sometimes have to make different choices than men if they want to raise a family,” she explained. “It’s just black and white. You make a choice or you don’t.”

Serena also shared a humorous anecdote about Olympia’s reaction to her retirement. “Olympia doesn’t like when I play tennis,” she revealed, noting that her daughter was visibly excited when she announced her retirement. “It’s hard to completely commit when your flesh and blood is saying, Aw.”

Tank“, answered ShowBizz the Adult. “Tank was in there swimming without getting wet. And countering, he’s actually the slick fighter,” he added. In his opinion, Shakur Stevenson is more “elusive“. “He also doesn’t hit hard enough to hurt Tank,” ShowBizz continued, fearing Stevenson would be intimidated by Davis.

Tank will knock him out. I put $10,000 on Tank for the knockout,” he concluded confidently on his stream. Although ShowBizz the Adult expected Shakur to be intimidated by Davis, Shakur’s co-manager felt otherwise.

Shakur Stevenson is not afraid of Gervonta Davis

Other than ShowBizz the Adult, Kenny Ellis, one of Gervonta Davis’ coaches, claimed that only fear could prevent Shakur Stevenson vs. Tank Davis. “The only thing that can stop that fight is fear,” Ellis said, doubting if Shakur was serious about facing ‘Tank.’ But, Shakur’s co-manager, Josh Dubin is confident that the WBC Lightweight champion truly wants the fight. “He’s been begging for it for a long time,” Dubin said.

What Shakur wants to do – let me say it plainly – is to unify at 135,” he added. In Dubin’s opinion, as Lomachenko understood he would potentially lose against Davis, the Ukrainian boxer walked away. However, it is not the same with Shakur. “Shakur’s own enemy is his own greatness and other peoples’ fear of him,” Dubin added. With that said, do you expect Shakur Stevenson to put Gervonta Davis in a fix? Or, do you align with ShowBizz the Adult? Let us know in the comments below.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER and Manny Pacquiao could be set for a rematch – but with a twist on their original money spinner.

Mayweather beat Pacquiao in 2015 to end boxing’s most drawn out saga in a blockbuster worth over £500MILLION.

But even in retirement the pair remain linked with a rematch as they continue to box on in exhibition bouts.

And Japanese MMA promotion Rizin could be the unlikely source to hold the key to a deal between the ring icons.

Pacquiao, 45, returns this weekend in Tokyo against ex-kickboxing champion Rukiya Anpo, 28.

Mayweather, 47, meanwhile has scored two knockout victories against martial arts opponents under the Rizin banner.

Promoter Nobuyuki Sakakibara revealed a rematch with Pacquiao remains a possibility – so long as professional records are not at stake.

Sakakibara told SunSport: “I wouldn’t be surprised if anything happens these days so the possibility is still there.

“We still have a good relationship with Floyd but he’s not thinking of coming back to real competitive fights.

“I understand that there isn’t no interest from his side on the rematch in non official bout, and Manny is interested.

“So it all comes down to the timing. And when everything aligns perfectly, I’m sure that rematch will happen.”

Last year, Pacquiao and Sakakibara announced that a rematch with Mayweather was in the works for 2024.

But the American great instead returns on August 24 in Mexico against John Gotti III.

Mayweather officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 36, but has boxed in exhibitions since.

His last was against the grandson of notorious crime boss Gotti – ending in a brawl in the ring to lead to the rematch.

Pacquiao meanwhile hung up his gloves following defeat to Yordenis Ugas in 2021 – but he has teased a comeback ever since.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Is Finally Happening!

And the WBC even controversially opened the door to PacMan challenging welterweight champion Mario Barrios, 29, for the title.

Pacquiao is using his exhibition with Anpo to ease back but Rizin are open to future fights with the Filipino.

Sakakibara said: “Depending on the result and his performance in his upcoming fight on July 28th, we need to assess the market to see if his return would make sense.

“This is a single bout agreement so if we were to have him back, we need to make sure there is a demand in the market.

“If we can create momentum and anticipation together – since Manny himself is still wanting to have competitive fights – he’s not thinking that this is his last fight.

“So if things turn out right, there is a good possibility where there could be more Manny Pacquiao fights in Rizin.”
