A Gervonta Davis versus Shakur Stevenson match-up is one of the most intriguing clash of styles in all of boxing.

Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion and is known for his explosive power, securing an impressive 28 knockouts from his 30 victories.

Stevenson is the WBC belt holder at 135 and goes about his business in a different way. He’s known for his excellent defensive skills and keeps to the old boxing adage of ‘hit and don’t get hit’.

The two unbeaten fighters have long been linked to a unification bout but as of yet no deal has come close.

One man who knows a thing or two about dominating the lighter weights is former pound-for-pound star Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather, who guided a large portion of ‘Tank’s career before a bitter split, has now given his verdict on the two fighters.

In an interview with the It Is What It Is praised both men for being the best in the division.

“You got guys fighting between 130, 135 and 160. They stacked around that area. As of right now, the two guys… The biggest puncher at 135 would probably be Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, but the most skilful fighter at 135 would be, hands down, Shakur Stevenson.”

Asked if Shakur’s talents were enough to be the best without carrying the type power ‘Tank’ does, Mayweather believes ultimately it’s ‘skills that pay the bills’.

“It’s really all about skills. Pernell Whitaker wasn’t a huge puncher, but he was very exciting, very tough and he fought everybody. Shakur’s trying do the same thing. He want to fight the best they got out there. He’s asking can he fight the best.”

Gervonta Davis is back in the ring on December 14, when he will defend his title against Lamont Roach Jr at the Toyota Center in Houston.

If you are a Tiger Woods fan, better prepare yourself. Wait… don’t get confused! We only meant that the golfer and his son might not be able to tee it up at the 2024 PNC Championship. But even though Charlie Woods and his father might miss something that has become close to an annual family tradition, the former will have to prepare himself. Any guesses why? Well, on the off chance that he does show it off, Woods Jr. would have to face his 13-year-old rival. Yes, we are talking exactly about Annika Sorenstam’s son, the athlete who recently turned many heads at a junior golf championship.

The female golfer’s son is currently teeing it off at the Disney Fall Junior Open that is taking place at the Walt Disney World Palm course from October 5, Saturday, to October 6, Sunday. The young athlete, interestingly, is leading the scoreboard for the 11-13 age group of the boys division at 1-under par 71 after the first round of play.

Sorenstam’s son managed to card a total of three birdies during his first round, at the par-3 3rd, par-5 7th, and par-4 14th at the Hurricane Jr. Golf tournament. The golfer also went ahead to dish out two bogeys in the last three holes, at the par-3 16th and the par-4 18th. Regardless, it still seems like quite an impressive feat, seeing as Woods Jr.’s rival boasts a 2-shot lead heading into the final round.

Come Sunday, Will McGee will be teeing it off alongside the likes of Leo Taylor and Theodoros Kalionchiz, the two of whom occupy T2 and T3, respectively. What’s more, they will be kicking off their final round from the first tee at 2:21 p.m. on October 6.

Will McGee sure has it in him to emerge victorious at the tournament. Doubtful? Don’t be, for he had already captivated the attention of many during the two times he teed it off at the PNC Championship alongside his mother. Remember his ace in the first round of the tournament? Well, you can expect something similar from the youngster even if Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods are present at the PGA Tour Champions event!

As far as bad news goes, it’s not the worst, seeing as how Tiger Woods is currently in recovery. Moreover, his recent post also paints a hopeful picture for the golfer, who had surgery in September 2024. “The surgery went smoothly, and I’m hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season,” said the golfer in a statement after his lumbar spine procedure. “I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”

For those who are unclear about the surgery, listen carefully. Tiger Woods had been experiencing back spasms for a while now (as evident in the majors that he played). As a result, he underwent microdecompression surgery led by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi of the Hospital for Special Surgery. They did so to treat the golfer’s nerve impingement on his lower back.

“The word retired sounds very strong because I am still 30 years old, but it has been 25 years since I started playing tennis in which I have achieved so much.

The 30-year-old, who reached the quarter-finals in women’s singles at the the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021, and doubles at Rio 2016, has not played since February 2023, and will become a Laureus Ambassador.

Claressa Shields and Lauren Price are the only two women to have won Olympic middleweight gold medals so far; Shields and Price are now professional world champions operating in different weight divisions but the American star can see a super-fight with Price taking place down the line

Claressa Shields is a unique fighter. An undisputed champion, she is a multi-weight titlist who has also competed in MMA and who will go for a title in a fourth division later this month.

She will challenge Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse for the WBC heavyweight championship in Detroit.

Claressa Shields

The Olympic middleweight gold medal has only been won by two women, Shields in 2012 and 2016, and most recently Wales’ Lauren Price, who triumphed at the Tokyo Games.

Price dropped down to welterweight after the Olympics and is only seven bouts into her professional career, but has won the inaugural women’s British title and the WBA world title already.

After traveling across the entire nation, Simone Biles and Co. are currently in the Lone Star State. But on October 20, the G.O.A.T. finally made the much-anticipated stop in the gymnast’s hometown of Houston. The “pop concert-style spectacle” graced the Moody Center on Saturday. For obvious reasons, the 11x Olympic medalist was as excited as ever to return to where it all began after her spectacular display in the French capital.

But since then, the gymnast has focused on heading the star-studded tour. In fact, Houston was just as excited to welcome the prodigal daughter home. However, no one was as excited as Ronni Biles, aka Baby Biles. The tiny tot watched her ‘TT’ dazzle the crowds at Bercy Arena in the French capital. Seeing how Simone Biles was finally in Houston, Sammi Biles, the gymnast’s sister-in-law, shared an adorable clip on her Instagram stories of them walking towards the stadium.

Simone Biles

Captioned, “my whole heart. so excited 🥹,” Sammi asks Ronnie, whom she sees as they approach the gates. As adorable as ever, she exclaims, “TT!” We can definitely see why she is excited to watch Simone Biles. Sammi matches her energy by chanting, “TT go, TT go.” The tiny tot can’t help but lift her hands up and clap as her mom continues chanting.

Shortly after making it inside, Sammi shares another video of them enjoying the show. Everyone has eyes for the stage, but Ronnie Biles is looking elsewhere. Her father holds her on his lap as Baby Biles looks over to the side, pointing at what we assume is a giant screen. Maybe she is trying to get a better look at her aunt.

The official Gold Over America Tour Instagram account shared a video of Clutch, the Houston Rockets mascot, trying to woo the Olympian with his gymnastics skills. They captioned the video, “Houston, are you ready to GOAT this weekend?” And boy, oh boy, were they ready. Even though Clutch’s moves were slightly shakey, he managed to bring a smile to the most decorated gymnast’s face. However, Baby Biles wasn’t the only one who got to watch the G.O.A.T. in her element.

Guess who stopped by in Houston to spend time with Simone Biles?

A certain Chicago Bears safety cheered his wife on while she racked up medals in the French capital. However, as soon as they returned to the States, their time was cut short. The culprit in question? Their unbelievably busy schedules. Jonathan Owens had to resume training for the ongoing NFL season while the Olympian prepared to take the Gold Over America Tour onto the stage. Even though they had to settle for a long-distance situation, they found ways to visit each other throughout.

Simone Biles was back in her hometown, and she couldn’t help but share it on her Instagram story. But she wasn’t alone. Jonathan Owens joined her as they shared some much-needed alone time. The G.O.A.T. shared a few snaps of them sharing brunch, her infamous pout, while her husband sneaks a tender kiss. In fact, the lovebirds even enjoyed some shopping therapy as they walked around the streets of her hometown.

Twenty-three-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has been tapped to grace the cover of Essence magazine, sharing with the world the woman she has become after her legendary tennis career.

However, some people think she has become something very unnatural to whoever she was born to be, saying that miraculously she has turned into a white woman right before the public’s eye.

The mother of two posted a behind-the-scenes video on her Instagram of the shoot, serving up several fierce looks with what looks like a 40-inch blond wig.

The opening shot is shoes galore before panning the Chanel jewelry spread. From a black slinky satin number to a red and white outfit, topped off by a red feather hat, fashion and style seems to come second nature to the A-lister.

Her face is beat to the gods by a makeup artist, using her own Wyn brand, and in frame after frame she is reminding people that the superstar she was on the court is the same superstar she is off it.

Graciously, she captioned the post, “Thank you so much, @essence, for allowing me to grace your cover to talk about my business ventures.”

She continued, “From investing in women and diversity with my VC company @serena.ventures to having my active makeup line that lasts all day and is clean and vegan, I love being a businesswoman. I told you I was not going anywhere; I was just evolving. Thanks, @wyn! Now let’s go and #WYN.”

However, while the post was meant to inspire, there were many in her comment section who dredged up a persistent claim — that the Compton native, who currently has an estimated net worth of $340 million, according to Forbes, wants to be white.

One comment wondered, “Why does she look so light?”

More questions poured in, with one person asking, “Who is that white woman?” as another mocked, “Girl you done turned into a whole white women before my eyes and you think I want to join you.”

Immediately the mother of two’s supporters took aim, defending their queen.

“I remember yall came for Megan Good when she popped out lighter and accused her of bleaching. She had to aht aht aht and tell yall she got a chemical peel,” one person said, explaining, “Serena doesn’t play in the sun anymore and skincare has come a long way since 2003.”

The person then added, “Everybody needs to take several seats and try something other than clean and clear and clearasil k thanks.”

This is not the first time that Serena has been accused of trying to be white. Many point to her marriage to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and the father of her two little girls, as influencing her to lighten her skin, reduce her more African features with makeup and try other cosmetic procedures to look more European.

While there were critics, so many people loved what they saw and celebrated not just her but her products.

“By the way just Burn the set down can’t anyone else use it because Serena scorched it completely,” someone posted.

The ongoing Simone Biles-led Gold Over America Tour has been deemed a major success. There have been many reviews from the audience praising the show and its performances. The show is particularly well-liked by the younger generation, who have always been the target audience for it. This is a major achievement for Simone, for whom this tour has always been a dream project.

However, this has not been a simple task at all. Performing in 30 cities within just a bit over a month can be tiring for all the performers. There might come a point where both mental and physical fatigue kick in. The fact that some of these gymnasts have arrived on the tour straight from the Olympics must also be taken into consideration. However, the organizers of the Simone Biles-led tour seem to be aware of this and have taken precautions against it.

Simone Biles

Joscelyn Roberson, Simone Biles’ World Championship teammate, is a part of the tour squad. She revealed that the tour bus has a physiotherapist who always accompanies them after a show to help them recover to their fullest. This is because recovery is the most important thing in this tour and helps drive down the fatigue to a manageable level.

Talking to self.com, Joscelyn said, “We have a PT on the bus that travels with us. I think recovery is really important—so getting treatment, getting good rest, and then making sure you’re ready and really warmed up for the shows. Your body is your instrument on this trip, so making sure it’s as healthy as it can be is the most important thing.”

Joscelyn Roberson also likes to unwind after every performance and gets cozy in her Target robe. The gymnast also said that she prioritizes showering after every performance to feel better. “And taking off my makeup is really nice—that really settles me down,” she said. Joscelyn also claimed to have late-night conversations with fellow teammate Katelyn Ohashi, which helped reduce both the gymnast’s mental fatigue. Thus, all these things help them prepare to go to the next performance with a fresh mind and body.

This is how the Gold Over America tour has been a great success. However, there might be a dilemma with the tour, which they soon might have to deal with. This is because Simone Biles might have to take a break for a while because of other commitments.

Simone Biles could halt Gold Over America Tour because of Rising Documentary

Simone Biles’ Gold Over America Tour is ongoing in full swing right now as fans shower praise on the show. However, Simone herself must deal with other commitments. This is because the new season of her Netflix documentary Simone Biles Rising’s premiere is all set to take place on October 23rd in Los Angeles. The importance of the show might exceed the Gold Over America Tour, too, because of the journey it is going to show.

The second season is set to cover her comeback from the Tokyo Olympics debacle to her success in the Paris Olympics. Thus, it is very special to her, which is why she would never miss the premiere. The GOAT tour, which will currently perform in Houston next, will travel to Fort Worth for their October 20th performance.

The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight has left the internet buzzing for various reasons. While the fans are excited about this ultimate clash at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, they are also worried about Tyson. It’s due to the recent health issue the former heavyweight champion is going through.

A few months ago, Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up, which delayed the fight from July 20 to November 15. Even though ‘Iron’ has received a medical green light, he is almost 60. Entering into the ring against a 27-year-old is still very risky. The fandom unanimously shares a feeling of concern. Even Tim Welch, head coach and cornerman of UFC fighter Sean O’Malley, was worried and speculated a ‘no-knockout’ clause for the sake of Tyson’s well-being.

Tim Welch’s bizarre speculation

On his latest Red Hawk Recap podcast episode, Welch sat down with Joe Riggs and his other friends to discuss various topics. During the episode, he mentioned that on November 15, his entire group would watch the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, followed by a huge sigh. “Hopefully we don’t see a death there,” stated Welch, with a worried look on his face.

They were glad that both boxers would use the 14-ounce gloves, which would subdue the blow of the punches substantially. “I believe yeah I hope supposedly they have bigger gloves on which is good uh I just hope Mike Tyson doesn’t get hurt,” stated Riggs.

That is when Warlike jumped in and suggested that there might be a no-knockout clause in the contract. Please note, it’s Netflix’s first boxing live event stream. “Because if Netflix is trying to acquire that, they’re not going to try and acquire a one-minute fight of Jake Paul knocking out Mike Tyson. I’m just saying from a perspective,” stated Warlike.

A former British boxing champion opened up on an act that proved Anthony Joshua is an incredibly classy operator.

Kevin Mitchell, who won the British super featherweight title and the Commonwealth title in his 12-year professional boxing career, tragically lost his younger brother, Vinny, in 2019.

Vinny, who was also a boxer, died aged 31 when his motorcycle collided with a tree.

The tragic loss left Mitchell and his family devastated but it also had a significant financial aspect on them, too.

With Mitchell retired as a boxer, the family was under serious financial pressure to foot the bill for the funeral as well as continue their mortgage payments.

But just one phone call later and one of those financial headaches had vanished thanks to Joshua’s incredible generosity.

In an interview with Josh James, Mitchell revealed Joshua’s heart-warming gesture.

“He had so much pressure on him and let me tell you something – I’ve not said this to anyone before on podcast – but he paid for my brother’s funeral,” Mitchell revealed.

James asked Mitchell if Joshua’s kind act was because he knew the brothers, the 39-year-old responded: “Both. He knew my brother, he knew me, he knew my mum.

The two are never shy of speaking out

The relationship between boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis once seemed unbreakable. Often compared to a father-son dynamic, the bond they shared has since unraveled. Tension surfaced when Davis accused Mayweather of banning him from his gym during training for his 2023 showdown against Ryan Garcia. Though Davis officially parted ways with Mayweather Promotions in 2022, Mayweather publicly claimed he had no hard feelings. But soon after, Davis began openly criticizing his former mentor, accusing him of unresolved financial issues in Dubai. The situation has only escalated since then, with both sides throwing subtle jabs at each other.

Now, as Davis continues to shine in the ring, his coaches are speaking out about Mayweather’s actions and raising concerns over his decision to reportedly bar Davis from his training facility at such a critical time.

Coaches Demand Answers from Mayweather

Davis’ trainer Calvin Ford, along with assistant coach Kenny Ellis, recently voiced their frustrations in a video shared on Ford‘s Instagram. Ellis didn’t hold back, questioning Mayweather’s motives: “If Tank is like a son to Floyd, why would you put him out of the gym? Biggest fight of his career and you ban him. Why? Did you want him to lose?” The tone was unmistakably frustrated, as the coaches painted a picture of betrayal.

Ford echoed similar concerns, describing the emotional complexity of the relationship. He recounted a conversation with Mayweather where the boxing legend denied having blocked Davis from using the gym. However, both coaches remained adamant that Mayweather needed to be held accountable. Ellis went as far as to challenge the media to ask Mayweather directly about his motives: “I would love for the media to ask him, ‘What was on your mind when you put Tank out of the gym?'”

Floyd mayweather

Despite the tension, Ford also saw a silver lining. Reflecting on the incident, he noted, “It was a lesson within a lesson. What felt negative was actually positive. Tank worked harder, and the results showed.” That hard work paid off when Davis knocked out Ryan Garcia in the 7th round, securing his status as one of the sport’s elite fighters.

What Lies Ahead for Gervonta Davis

With Davis riding high on his success, he is set to defend his WBA title against Lamont Roach Jr. on December 14 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Roach, holding a 25-1-1 record, poses a significant challenge. Meanwhile, Davis continues to build on his undefeated 30-0 streak, with his most recent victory being a knockout against Frank Martin in June.
