Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson

Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson are two of boxing’s biggest names from the past 40 years.

Tyson reigned as heavyweight champion throughout the 80s and 90s, defeating the likes of Michael Spinks, Larry Holmes, Frank Bruno and Tony Tucker.

Mayweather was a five-weight world champion and became the biggest box office draw in the sport, with his 2015 clash with Manny Pacquiao dubbed ‘The Fight of The Century’ and generated a record 4.6 million PPV buys.

Many onlookers believe that a prime ‘Iron Mike’ would come out on top against most heavyweights, and Mayweather has now had his say on that theory.

Speaking to Mail Sport Boxing, he was asked to judge how certain match-ups would unfold, with Tyson included in the list, but Mayweather felt the boxing legend would come unstuck against one former world champion – Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko retired with a record of 45-2, with 41 of those wins coming by knockout, and made 12 defences of the world heavyweight title.

Injury forced him to leave the sport in 2004, before returning from a four-year absence in 2008 to defeat Samuel Peter for the WBC crown, with Vitali and his brother Wladimir ruling the heavyweight scene for a long period.

As for Tyson, his focus is currently on his controversial bout with Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, with the two men set to meet at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15.

It will be the first live boxing event to be broadcast on Netflix, and Paul’s last opponent has no doubt who will come out on top.
