The former undisputed heavyweight champion recently ended his 20-year retirement and went eight rounds with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

‘Iron Mike’ looked a shell of his former self as he suffered a lopsided unanimous decision defeat against a man who is 27 years old and more than three decades his junior.

Despite everything, the 58-year-old suggested he would fight again in 2025 when he called out Logan Paul immediately after suffering a defeat against the internet celebrity’s brother. Is Mike Tyson v Jake Paul free on Netflix? How to watch and stream huge boxing fight - CoventryLive

Mike Tyson was polite as he suggested a fight with ‘The Maverick’.

However, he was met with hostility from Logan Paul, who responded by aiming a fatal threat at the revered boxing legend. “I would kill you, Mike,” he said.

Former boxing world champion Amir Khan was one of the 60 million people who tuned in to Netflix to watch Tyson’s comeback. The man who fought Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford during his 40-fight career was left with a sour taste in his mouth after seeing the older Paul brother treat Tyson with such disdain.

“Would Logan Paul have said the same thing to Mike Tyson back in his twenties? No, you wouldn’t,” Khan told The Sports Daily. “So, how can you say that to a legend?Mike Tyson slaps Jake Paul during weigh-in, causing chaos ahead of Netflix fight | Sporting News India

Tyson landed just 18 total punches to 78 for Paul, who won by unanimous decision. Nobody expected to see a prime version of Tyson given his age (58), but his lack of offense was surprising, to say the least.

The fan outcry was such that Most Valuable Promotions felt the need to issue a statement saying the whole thing wasn’t rigged.

The famous Iron Mike was a box office magnet in each of his fights since he was champion.

Mike Tyson and otherworldly earnings for his time

Throughout his professional career, Mike Tyson was that box office magnet that boxing needed, and which made Don King and several of his trainers tremendously rich. With earnings close to 500 million dollars in his career thanks to fights, the 58-year-old boxer proved to be a great candidate in his prime. He filled stadiums and achieved great deals for his promoters. Fans also flocked to the stadiums to see him put on a show; the figures also back up these claims.

Mike Tyson and his million-dollar PPVs

Mike Tyson was famous for taking out his rivals in the early rounds, but that did not affect his box office magnetism, both in the arenas and on pay-per-view. One of the first fights on the list that was a resounding success was when Iron Mike fought Bruce Seldon in 1996 with the WBA heavyweight title at stake.

It ended with a first-round knockout and 1.15 million PPV buys, but the fight is most famous for being one of the last public appearances of Tupac Shakur.

The New York native defended his title against Frank Bruno in 1989 and there we saw an inexplicable combination of 13 punches in the third round and sent his opponent to the canvas. It produced 1.37 PPV purchases. Tyson would then do better on the economic front when he returned from his four-year layoff after serving a prison sentence. The Brooklyn native’s return to the ring after a prolonged absence created a buzz and interest among fans to see if Tyson was still at his former level.

Iron Mike’s return to the ring made it clear that he was far from dropping his magnet for PPV and he fought Peter McNeeley and grossed 1.55 million pay-per-view. This comeback fight grossed more than $96 million worldwide, including a record $63 million in the U.S. for television.

It set records for both viewership and PPV revenue. One of the most important fights of Tyson’s career was against Evander Holyfield, when he put his titles on the line. Holyfield rose to the challenge and his aggressiveness handed Tyson his second defeat. The fight offered fireworks for the fans, and the same was reflected in the PPV figures, which recorded 1.59 million PPVs.

Mike Tyson is set to be a commentator in the build-up to his fight with eagerly-anticipated return to action with Jake Paul.

The boxing legend is set to do the commentary as well as being an analyst for Cage Wars 67.

Cage Wars is a Pro/Am mixed martial arts promotion that is really taking off in terms of popularity.

The event is set to take place on Friday at the Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady, New York where he will work alongside his son, Amir Tyson.

The New York venue holds a special place in Iron Mike’s heart as the place where he made his professional boxing debut in 1985 with a first-round technical knockout win over Hector Mercedes.

Tyson is no stranger to life behind the microphone having hosted his podcast ‘Hotboxin’ with Eben Britton for many years.

The 58-year-old has also hosted a one-man show in both Las Vegas and Broadway.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that his new commentary/analyst role is for an MMA event, rather than a boxing one.

Tyson is gearing up for what could be his last ever boxing match as he prepares to take on Jake Paul on Friday, November 15 at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Paul has no concerns over Tyson’s fitness and ability to compete in their fight.

Roy Jones Jr. has a great insight into Tyson as the pair faced each other in a 2020 exhibition bout. Despite this being the first fight since 2005 for “Iron Mike,” Jones is positive about the November 15 clash in Texas: “I think it’s a great fight and a great marketing situation as well because a lot of people want to see it. It’s a young lion and an old lion. It’s a great situation for them,” said Roy Jones Jr.

Revealing his thoughts on who could win, Jones Jr. said: “It gives Jake a chance with Mike being as old as he is. I think it’s a great opportunity for both fighters, but I still think Mike is gonna be a little bit too much for Jake.”

Tyson vs. Paul Undercard

The undercard on November 15 is centred around the highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) and Amanda Serrano (47-2-1, 31 KOs). They were scheduled to face each other on July 20, before the postponement of Tyson-Paul due to the ulcer flare-up experienced by “Iron Mike.”

The Cameroon MMA star was a guest on JAke Paul’s podcast and he didn’t hesitate to call out ‘The Problem Child’

Problem Child’ Jake Paul must’ve forgotten that Mike Tyson was right there on Francis Ngannou’s corner when he fought Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. There is no way he will ever side with the YouTuber knowing that ike always had his back. In a sense, ‘Iron Mike’ felt a little like a trainer while he taught Francis a few of his own tricks. When he fought Fury, some of those tricks seemed to work as Ngannou humbled the British boxer despite losing the fight. Ngannou also happens to be the face of the Professional Fighters league (PFL), which is co-owned by Jake Paul. But that doesn’t matter for Francis, he will still speak his mind despite everything and he thinks there is only one clear winner here.

Francis Ngannou’s shocking Tyson v Paul prediction

During Jake Paul’s podcast, the host asked Francis if Mike could beat him. He said: “Yeah, I do [think he’ll beat your ass]. Listen, I have seen Tyson move around just to show me stuff. He was like, ‘This footwork moves like this,’ and I was like hold on, like, calm down (laughs). He’s still got it. Either way, I think Mike Tyson will beat you up. We’re talking about Mike, bro. Mike is something else. He’s a specimen. Mike will move from this side to this side without you knowing at exactly which moment. Everything [you have to watch out for]. Knowing Mike, I just believe that Mike will beat him. It’s not betting against him, it’s just what it is. If he would have been in another circumstance, I’d be like, ‘Okay, let’s go, Jake.’ But this I’m like, ‘Bro, let’s be real.'”

Mike Tyson

But Jake Paul’s friends from the podcast kept trying to bring up arguments in Jake Paul’s defense, who has been getting ready for a fight like this since he started this boxing journey. Plus, physically he is at the peak of his form. Mike yson is already pushing 60. Francis Ngannou probably thinks about the same argument a lot of people use to describe Mike Tyson. Despite his age, Mike Tyson is still a wild lion who is waiting to get out of his cage. If he smells blood, those who know boxing are perfectly aware that Jake Paul would be done for.

The former Heavyweight champion warned his fans of attempted scams from one of his big brands

Back in early April, Mike Tyson’s ‘Hotboxin‘ podcast recorded its last episodes and the former boxer made the announcement via his social media. Several months after his announcement, there seem to be attempts at booking new guests to the show under the same brand and without Mike Tyson. This constituted as a fraud and Mike Tyson warned all of his followers of what’s happening. The way this fraud is being committed is through emails that are sent to a lot of people whose data has been breached. Tyson announced the issue and reminded everyone that ‘Hotboxin’ is no longer in production. Mainly, the ones who were attempted to be scammed were former guests.

Mike Tyson denies ‘Hot Boxin’ is still in production

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson decided to post an Instagram story where he talks to his fans that he was made aware this is happening. This is the message he sent everyone from his social media: “It has been brought to our attention that there have been fraudulent attempts to reach out to people to be booked on hotboxing. We would never reach out from a Gmail address. Hotboxin’ is no longer in production. Please DM in any instances of fraudulent activity or report on the contact page of miketyson.com.”

Mike Tyson had one of the most popular podcasts in the world, he was one of the most thoughtful podcast hosts who didn’t mind getting a little vulnerable speaking with his guests. But Mike decided to end a brilliant and wildly successful 262-episode run that broke people’s hearts when he made the announcement. ‘Hotboxin’ remains as one of the most enjoyable podcasts in recent history and everybody hopes it returns with Mike Tyson as the host someday.

Tyson gave an insight into the current heavyweight division.

Mike Tyson broke down the current crop of elite heavyweight boxers, including Anthony Joshua, during a chat with Joe Rogan and it’s truly fascinating.

Tyson appeared on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast in April 2022, and was asked to give his verdict on Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

He also gave his opinion on WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, as well as WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Tyson went in-depth on all four fighters, and it’s the kind of analysis you wouldn’t hear from anyone else.

Deontay Wilder

On Wilder, he said: “Having a hard punch is like having a nuclear war, but it doesn’t serve any military value if it doesn’t land on his target.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ suffered two consecutive defeats to Fury in 2020 and 2021, despite putting up a valiant effort in both fights.

After bouncing back with a KO win over Robert Helenius, Wilder then suffered a surprise defeat to Joseph Parker in December, where a win would likely have set up a showpiece fight with Anthony Joshua.

Anthony Joshua

Talking of Joshua, Tyson summarised: “He has never lost hope, he is still learning. That’s why he’s dangerous. Because he’s still f***ing learning.

“Joshua needs to pick up the pace, he’s got so much potential. He has got to turn those jabs into something. Joshua is no walk over. He’s going to have a beautiful life after boxing, he’s beautiful.”

Joshua is a two-time WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion, having lost the belts to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 before claiming them back the following December.

He slipped to a shock loss against Usyk in September and lost a rematch against him the following summer.

Joshua has since won his last three fights, including a fifth round stoppage of Otto Wallin in December last year.

Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson focused on Usyk’s performance in his first fight against Joshua in his analysis, stating: “Usyk is very hard to hit, he has that elite amateur level movement. It was too much for Joshua.”

After Rogan claimed that the Ukrainian moves like a lightweight, Tyson went on to suggest Wilder as a potential future opponent – although that fight seems a way away currently.

Usyk returned to his homeland of Ukraine in 2022 to help fight off invading forces from Russia.

Following a year’s inactivity after his second victory over Joshua, Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois via knockout in August, and is scheduled to fight Fury in February.

Tyson Fury

Last but not least was the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’, and ‘Iron Mike’ spoke glowingly of the WBC heavyweight champion.

Tyson admitted: “It’s weird to take him seriously, because he’s so funny. He doesn’t take fighting seriously, he laughs at people, licking the blood. What’s wrong with this guy? You’ve got to be out of your mind.

“He would be a prophet in biblical times, how do you explain how good he is? They couldn’t explain that.”

Mike Tyson is gearing up for his fight with Jake Paul.

Following Paul’s knockout victory over Mike Perry Saturday, Tyson posted a countdown for his fight against Paul and also included a video of him watching Paul’s introduction to the fight against Perry.

This comes after Paul called out Tyson following the victory, declaring “Mike Tyson, you’re next,” during his post-fight interview.

Mike Tyson training again, Jake Paul in sights

The Paul-Tyson fight nearly occurred on Saturday night, as the original date was for June 20. Tyson postponed the fight due to suffering an ulcer flare up, and that led to Perry stepping in to face Paul instead.

Paul knocked down Perry in the sixth round and improved his overall record to 10-1 with seven knockouts. While it has been an impressive run for the 27-year-old, his accomplishments pale in comparison to what the 57-year-old Tyson has done.
Tyson was the undisputed world champion from 1987-1990 and boasts an overall record 50-6-2 with 44 knockouts. His last professional fight was in 2005 when he fell to Kevin McBride while his last exhibition fight came in 2020 when he fought to a draw with Roy Jones Jr.

The fight with Jones Jr. saw Tyson fight a boxer just a two-year age gap, but the significant age disparity between Tyson and Paul will make the upcoming bout interesting.

The fight is currently set for Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
