Terence Crawford and Floyd Mayweather are undoubtedly amongst the best to ever do it.
When one fighter appears head and shoulders above the available competition, fight fans often start going into fantasy realms when it comes to matchmaking.
That is what has happened with Crawford recently. The former two-weight undisputed champion recently moved up to 154 lbs to win another belt at the first time of asking.
Many would now like to see him take on young star Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis though he has so far refused, instead, he appears only interested in taking on super-middleweight ruler Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
However, the public likes to fantasise about what would have happened if Crawford and former multi-weight king and undefeated 50-0 star Mayweather, who has been retired since beating Conor McGregor in 2017, competed in the same era.
Speaking to SAY CHEESE Ryan Garcia had no doubt that ‘Money’ would get his hand raised.
“[Crawford] is not that good. He gets hit a lot. He’s not that untouchable You’re acting like he’s Mayweather. He’s not. Mayweather was different. Mayweather got hit by one guy, that’s it, Sugar Shane Mosely. And Maidana hurt him a little bit too but the main one was Mosley. He’s not Mayweather. He’s a good fighter, he is his own person. I don’t think he’s not a great fighter but he’s not as great as people say. He hasn’t fought nobody that has power.”
Garcia is currently serving a drugs ban having tested positive in the wake of his last fight with Devin Haney back in April. Though he won the fight after having Haney down several times, he never lifted the belts after weighing in over the official limit and it was later ruled a no-contest after news broke of his positive test.
